RESEARCH INTEGRITY IN ACADEMIA In-Person / Online
As the research landscape continues to evolve, so too does the role of researchers and research management professionals. To uphold the highest standards of integrity, it is no longer sufficient to rely on established norms; researchers must actively ensure their work aligns with modern developments and take deliberate steps to fulfil their responsibility to conduct research with integrity.
This two-day hybrid workshop will confront key challenges in research integrity while also drawing attention to often-overlooked topics such as whistleblowing in cases of alleged breaches, early detection and robust investigation, and the strategic responsibilities of institutions, mentors, and individual researchers in navigating recent shifts in the integrity ecosystem. An interactive format, supported by illustrative case studies, will help translate these concepts into practical approaches for strengthening integrity in research practice.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate a foundational understanding of Research Integrity and its core principles.
- Critically engage with contemporary challenges in Research Credibility and Integrity in the 21st Century.
- Apply POPIA and Data Privacy Regulations appropriately within research contexts.
- Navigate the processes and protections involved in Whistleblowing and Institutional Response.
