Understanding Research Data Management in the Context of POPIA Regulation In-Person / Online
Objectives of the workshop
- To understand the fundamentals of Research Data Management.
- Navigate the world of secondary data use for research.
- To be able to apply POPIA principles in research projects.
- To understand the complexities of collecting data via online platforms.
- To understand future practices of research data management at the NWU
Learning outcomes
- Gain an in-depth understanding of the principles and best practices of Research Data Management with the research environment.
- Explore key principles of sharing and accessing secondary data in research, including Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs) and Data Transfer Agreements (DTAs).
- Understand how to apply the POPIA code of conduct in the research environment.
- Understand use of social media platforms when doing data collection (pros and cons)
- Understand future practices of research data management at the NWU.
