RICEP has the following departments: Research and Postgraduate Support (RPS), Library Services (LIS), Technology Transfer and Innovation Support (TTIS) and Sustainability and Community Impact, under the directorship of Prof. Nnenesi Kgabi, Dr. Mathew Moyo, Dr. Janine Chantson and Mr. Lester Mpolokeng, respectively.

2. Library and Information Service (LIS) – empowering researchers and students through information literacy, open scholarship, digital scholarship, research visibility, and reproducible science services.
3. Technology Transfer and Innovation Support (TTIS) – supporting intellectual property management, innovation commercialisation, and entrepreneurship to translate research into societal and economic value.
