Publication Ethics: Promoting Intellectual Property Rights and Responsible Authorship at the NWU Research Environment In-Person / Online

Research involves discovery and innovation. Within the context of collaborative research, it may involve multiple parties working together towards a common goal. Whether research is undertaken independently or collaboratively, the discoveries and innovations that may result from any research require protection. As such, understanding the implications of intellectual property rights is critical. This workshop aims to engage with NWU researchers and explore the legal rights and protections associated with research, innovation, and development. Specifically, the workshop will focus on principles and elements of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) in independent and collaborative research to create awareness and promote intellectual property rights and responsible authorship for NWU researchers and stakeholders. The workshop aims to delineate publication ethics issues, including authorship principles, trust and dependence, and resolution of publication conflicts.
