Lunch & Learn
Authentic learning and prescribed study material: challenges and OER opportunities
Purpose of the CHPE opportunity:
- The Lunch & Learn sessions, hosted by the Centre for Health Professions Education within the Faculty of Health Sciences, serve as a platform for staff to engage in professional development and knowledge sharing. The primary purpose of these sessions is to explore the concept of authentic learning and its various applications in the context of health professions education.
Outcomes of the CHPE opportunity:
- The outcomes of the 2024 sessions are aimed at equipping staff with the knowledge and skills to plan and implement authentic learning strategies, improve class attendance, and enhance student engagement. Today’s session will focus on guiding staff in planning and implementing authentic learning by utilising open educational resources (OERs) as study materials. By delving into this topic, the Lunch & Learn session aims to foster a collaborative and continuous learning environment, ultimately contributing to the enhancement of teaching practices and student learning experiences.
Who should attend?
- Lecturers interested in exploring different authentic learning practices. Lecturers grappling with authentic learning, teaching, and assessment and seeking an opportunity to discuss authentic learning-related challenges with other scholars.
